Overcome – a 3D animation designed and created by Lola.

My work explored the emotions an individual would feel whilst experiencing and overcoming a mental limitation.

During this project, I experienced what it was like to suffer from a creative block; therefore I made a 3D animation that visually represents these emotions. This animation was supported by a voiceover about overcoming obstacles.  The final outcome consisted of both abstract and representational art, giving the audience room to make their own interpretations of my artwork. I hope the final outcome was relatable to all and they could connect with it on a personal level.

Throughout this project, I took inspiration from various sources regarding colour, pattern, texture and design. Some of the artists included Nobumichi Asai, Alexa Meade and MethodStudios. Most of my inspiration came from artworks I saw on Instagram.

Apart from this, I achieved new skills in 3D modelling and animation using Maya and rendering skills using Arnold. I specifically chose to use Arnold because it gave the final piece a realistic and professional appearance. By collaborating with multiple art students from across campus, I was able to create this animation that everyone can relate to.
