When making the environment for the animation I had two major issues.

  1. Statues
  2. The happy pattern

Statues

Whenever I saved the modelled statues as an FBX and imported them into Maya, they would override each other. Therefore for I had to save them as OBjs

The happy pattern

Created the happy pattern in illustrator and wanted to make that into a 3D image but when I added a bevel to it, it didn’t look nice anymore. Therefore I decided to use the pattern as it is and add3D abstract models in the happy environment. Similar to the work of  Natalia Mleczak, images below.

MY ABSTRACT PATTERN

By using various shapes in illustrator I was able to make this simple but happy and light abstract pattern that would suit the environment very well. I used the PANTONE pastels and neon colour palette to get soft and bright colours that represent the emotions of this environment.  The pattern rendered perfectly in high quality in Arnold.

UPDATED ENVIRONMENT

The basic design and layout of the environment are done, I just have to add 3D abstract objects that I intend to make in C4D. Once that is done I will begin to make the animation, which consists of

  1. the model walking
  2. the model dancing
  3. the fog around the path
  4. statues shattering
  5. lighting
  6. textures
  7. camera angles and rendering

TO DO

  1. Finish environment
  2. make fog and shatter experiments
  3. video experiment on the model
  4. make model walk
  5. attach mocap to model
  6. render video
