I found this video helpful because it showed the process of making  a matte painting look realistic. The main thing I learned from this video is that colour correction is very important, it makes helps the image look united.  Also, this video gave me ideas in terms of adding depth to the painting so that it isn’t flat. For example, live fire in the background.

In this video, I learned that I could use the wrap and skew tool to manipulate textures to make the buildings look old and dirty. This was a really good technique that I intend to use to make my matte painting.

This tutorial showed how to make a matte painting using different images and piecing them together. Although this is a very advanced video, he went over basic techniques. Such as adding shadow, lighting, and the importance of perspective. This video made me realise how important perspective is.

If the perspective of the matte painting and the greenscreen angle is wrong the final piece will not look united. When I draw my thumbnail designs I will use the one-point perspective technique, this will help me know how I want the angles of my matte painting and greenscreen to be.

This video gave me ideas on what my characters could be going in the matte painting . Such as walking around or touching the grass. This video made me think more about the greenscreen shot rather than the post production aspect.
