I created this matte painting using stock images of buildings in Photoshop. I used my thumbnail design as a template to know how to position the buildings at the right angle. I also used the technique of layering the building textures on top of the building.
This experiment wasn’t going to plan which is why is stopped halfway through. I realised that if I had finished the painting, there would have been too many buildings on both sides of the city. Which is not what I wanted.
To overcome this I intend to plan out how I want the city to look like. To do this I will create a list of elements that will be on either side of the city.
Eg: Under the dome, there could be a pond and on the other side of the city there could be abandoned cars.
Once I have finished making the list I will then arrange the elements in a detailed drawing.
