Naive Baraty is a photographer who used a photocopier to create fictional images of space. To do this Baraty used ingredients he found in his kitchen, then arranged them on a scanner.
What I am stealing
Baraty’s work relates to my Art Rule Card I chose in week one. I like the idea of using everyday objects and looking at them from a different perspective. From Baraty’s work, I am looking to steal the idea of making fictional space sceneries, out of different materials. This doesn’t necessarily have to be kitchen ingredients.
Using Baraty’s technique of using the scanner to produce fictional images from space. I experimented by putting a cup of milk on top of the bed of my scanner, similar to what he did.
I wanted this image to look like a moon on a pitch black background. I experiment with different shaped cups to know which one would work best in order for it to resemble the moon.
A first I want not pleased with how this image came out. Then I noticed at the bottom of the left cup, there was an outer glow around its rim. This gave me the idea to photoshop this image into a lunar eclipse.
OVERALL
I thoroughly enjoyed making this background. To improve I’ll will make sure the rim of the cup is not visible on the moon. Maybe I’ll make the background from scratch rather from a photograph. For my video, I will defiantly be using this image I have made. I am thinking maybe making an animation that revolves around the fictional space sceneries.
For my video, I hope to use this image I made. I may make an animation that revolves around fictional space sceneries.
This is the final image. I used the cup shape on the left because that resembled the shape of the moon best.
The slider below shows screenshots of how I made this image.
