In the last post, I mentioned that I wanted to use the future as the theme of my roller coaster. I change my mind, again. I didn’t want to do that theme again because of I simply thought about it and didn’t like it as much.

Looking at my mindmap from the previous post, I had History -> Kings & Queens -> Cards

I explored the theme of playing cards and how I would translate that into a roller coaster ride. The image below shows a brief design I came up with.

I struggled to make the design flow because the front of the roller coaster was rounded and circular whilst the sides were flat and rectangular. This made me realise that the theme has to cater to the shape of the roller coaster cart. I wanted the made focus to be the crown and how much detail it had, therefore I decided to make the theme of the roller coaster Royalty and to show this I intend to make a roller coaster cart inspired by crowns.

The image below shows where I drew my inspiration from when drawing a the brief design.

The images of these roller coaster carts helped me realise that not all roller coaster rides are in a rectangular shape and its ideas on how I could ensure that the theme of royalty is translated through the shapes and detail of the cart design.

To help with making the theme of the ride prominent, I created the mood board below.

To Do

  1. Draw cart designs
  2. Experiment on Maya
  3. More research into roller coaster carts (parts), crown designers etc
